So, how do you protect yourself from the adult ghosts and goblins?Carol Craigie, CFP®
Ghosts, Goblins, Zombies, IRS audits, more bills than money, retiring on social security only…what’s the scariest for you?
I’ve been through a medical emergency that created a financial crisis and came to the conclusion that “one crisis at a time is enough, thank you very much!” So, how do you protect yourself from the adult ghosts and goblins? Here’s just a few things you’ll want in your arsenal.
Zombie repellant: Emergency Funds (3 to 6 months of expenses)– Emergency funds can be hard to come by, but boy are they powerful! They can zap during unemployment, maternity leave, major home damage, illnesses, accidents and even allow you to save money by taking higher deductibles on insurance. Stop worrying about what’s in your wallet and focus on what’s in your bank!
Ghost Busters: Different equipment for different ghosts – you need the right amounts and the right types of life insurance, disability coverage, medical plans, auto, homeowner’s and umbrella policies to name a few.
Goblin Defense: Low fees in your investments and a clear grip on acceptable risk in your portfolio are important, so you keep gaining on those important long-term goals.
Special Forces backup: Hopefully you’ve assembled a good back up team! You’ve got a coach, some backup from employee benefits and a few good insurance agents too. If you don’t have the right backup, give Fiscal Fitness Clubs a call!
Okay adults, lets’ go out there and make our personal worlds a better one and protect ourselves and families!
